Coming from Caithness it’s always amazing to visit the north coast of Sutherland. The beaches are mostly empty and the water has a more mediterranean look to them. I believe the sandy bed of the sea reflects more light from the sky to cause these beautiful colours, whereas the east coast beaches have a more rocky bed, causing the sea to appear darker.
