An assortment of recent photos, and some other stuff

I’m guilty of using the Canon EF 17-40mm f/4.0 L USM too much, so I have made more of an effort to use the Canon EF 70-200mm f/4.0 L USM and even more-so, the Canon 50mm f/1.4 USM.

The Canon 50mm f/1.4 USM is such a great little lens for capturing the details of things, whilst being wide enough on a full-frame camera to capture the bigger picture. When Autumn arrives, there’s certainly a lot of attention-grabbing detail available to photograph! The quality of the bokeh generated by the 50mm and those autumnal colours is amazing! The only thing about the 50mm f/1.4 is that, unlike L Series lenses, it does not come with a protective pouch or hood. I have still to purchase a hood for it, but got an excellent little Hama pouch for a few quid on Amazon.

In order to capture additional detail I purchased a Canon Lens Extension Tube EF 12 II. It works great with the 50mm f/1.4 USM lens. You can see an example via my Flickr account. It comes in a lovely little leather pouch and fits easily into the corner of my camera bag.

Anyway, here are the highlights of the past couple of weeks…
