Union Street, Wick

For two nights now I’ve visited Union Street in Wick. It’s a slightly dark, damp and run-down area of the town at the foot of the Academy Braes, and while this creates great opportunities for photography, I can’t help but think of how sad it is to see these old buildings falling to pieces.

This image was taken around about 1930. As you can see there are businesses, houses and life down there. It’s a fairly stark contrast to how things look in 2013 down in Union Street.
