Wick Riverside Park

Sometimes taking photos in your hometown is not the most inspiring thing. However, the Riverside park in Wick (my hometown) is one place, if not the only place in town with an unobstructed view to the west, making it great for sunset photography – on my doorstep! It’s great for sunsets for a number of reasons:

  • It has a bridge and trees which can be used to create silhouettes as a focal point for photos
  • The view west from the riverside park is across very flat arable farmland, which in itself isn’t attractive, but gives you clear sight of the sun until it dips beneath the horizon.
  • Being near the wider, lower section of the river there is lots of water, allowing amazing reflections of the sky!

I have hundreds of photos of Wick Riverside park, but I never really get bored with it. The more you photograph the same place, the more you realise that it never looks the same on each visit…
